WORLD BIPOLAR DAY 2024

Many are unaware that every March 30, is a day to raise awareness about Bipolar Disorder worldwide. Bipolar Disorder is one of the various mental health conditions. It is characterized by extreme mood swings, encompassing manic and depressive emotions. Here are some symptoms typically associated with Bipolar Disorder:

Symptoms of Manic Episodes:

  • Feeling extremely happy or irritable

  • Having an inflated sense of self-esteem

  • Increased energy and activity levels

  • Rapid thoughts and fast speech

  • Impulsive behavior and engaging in risky activities such as excessive spending and dangerous driving

  • Decreased need for sleep

  • Difficulty concentrating or focusing on tasks

  • Unrealistic beliefs in one's abilities or power

Symptoms of Depressive Episodes:

  • Feeling sad, hopeless, or empty throughout the day

  • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed

  • Changes in appetite or weight

  • Insomnia or excessive sleeping

  • Fatigue or loss of energy

  • Feelings of worthlessness or excessive guilt

  • Difficulty concentrating, making decisions, or remembering things

  • Thoughts of death or suicide, suicide attempts, or self-harming behaviors

It is important to note that these changes can vary from person to person. Some individuals may experience more frequent and severe episodes, while others may have longer periods of stability between episodes. If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms of Bipolar Disorder, it is crucial to seek help from a mental health professional.

Bipolar Disorder is a treatable condition, and with proper diagnosis and management, patients can lead fulfilling lives. Treatment typically involves a combination of medication, psychotherapy, and lifestyle changes. Early intervention can improve outcomes and quality of life for individuals with Bipolar Disorder.

I have personally experienced many of these symptoms for years. This is not a joke. Mental illness is very real. Each year, the number of mental health cases rises and is concerning. How does this illness affect individuals? When and why does it happen? I share all of this in my ebook, " Bipolar Fighter."

Society must be aware of the existence of mental illnesses and take early steps to prevent them. Prevention is better than cure.
